On embracing the ‘rustic’, homemade, say-it-how-it-is approach
Recently, given the lack of professional art studio around me because I am house-bound, I have decided to embrace the ‘rustic’, say-it-how-it-is approach.
I have been making a series of videos although they are clearly from my living room, I have tried to emerge from behind the usual professional ‘shopfront’ of The studio of Nicola Anthony, and have now just become 'Nicola that artist with the cats and a smudge of paint on her nose'.
As I am always asking you the audience, (as well as the communities I work with) to bare their souls and tell me their life story to be turned into artwork, it’s about time that the tables were turned!
