Have you ever felt displaced? We are seeking refugees, migrants, newcomers, or those who identify as ‘other’, to be featured as the subject of an artwork.
The Human Archive Project maps life stories and different types of life experience by inviting the public to anonymously share their testimonies. These are then transformed into text sculptures which are exhibited around the world.
Artist Nicola Anthony is interested in talking to newcomers, refugees, migrants, and those who identify as ‘other’ within Ireland, to explore how their identity and sense of place has changed.
“My work often tells the stories of people who live life on the border - be that the edge of a geography, an identity, or even time. Sometimes we lose our grasp of the time or space which we occupy: we become displaced or disconnected as we start a new chapter.”
These sculptures will be unveiled on Dublin Culture Night in September 2019. Previous sculptures from this series have been showcased at Singapore Art Museum, the National Design Centre, and around the world.
