This print is based on iterations and perseverance of tiny details. An original drawing of two hands was made using pen on paper, and each dot or ‘pixel’ is a letter from a jumbled story. To create this exclusive print artwork, the original drawing was overprinted in three different ink colours, each time reproducing every pen stroke and tiny letter. The finished piece abstracts the original drawing and brings a sense of upwards movement. (scroll through the images to see the detailed view of the drawing).

'Out of the Darkness' bears witness to the profound events of our time. Rooted in the principles of equality and kindness, inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and the stark inequalities exposed by the pandemic and the years since, it becomes a reflection of the shared human experience. The convergence of two hands symbolizes the optimism of connection, serving as a reminder that we are all in this together.

When the image was layered and multiplied something special happened: “In experimenting with many hands coming together I found an interesting abstraction, a darkening and lightening, ebbing and flowing, a sense of togetherness and co-ordination like murmurations of birds....it is more like a dance than a static moment, and it changes from every angle and in every different light.”
