Vain Memory
Vain Memory
Limited Edition Fine Art Print on German etching paper (a Hahnemuhle archival paper).
An abstract print created in response to time researching cities and what lies beneath them. It represents history, the flow of time, the macro-scale of lives and journeys that pass through a city as well as the micro-scale of traces, fingerprints and marks which we can find on the surfaces of buildings, paving slabs and facades.
In cities such as Singapore, Yangon, Dublin or London, (where the artist has lived and researched), the exterior of old buildings and streets conceal indecipherable codes. Arcane symbols are forgotten as suited masses pour along the streets in their criss-crossing journeys; while birds, space stations and aeroplanes criss-cross overhead in the infinite web of movement to unknown destinies. Here and there human elements break the facade and reveal facets of the past.
