This month I am reading letters between lovers - and was especially moved by Frida's long and beautiful outpouring of heart, found in Salomón Grimberg’s I Will Never Forget You: Frida Kahlo and Nickolas Muray (public library).
In many of my works like those pictured here, the words are gathered from historical texts, anonymous storytellers, notes I find scribbled in the margins or word-of-mouth tradition. Over recent years I have been approached about making a special commission, a self portrait with a difference - a moment preserved forever as art.
