The MART Gallery’s Members showcase this year is called ‘From Me To You’. This group exhibition showcases a selection of artworks produced by the MART community of studio members who include emerging and established visual artists. A key part of MART’s mission is to support the entire community of members.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this series of ink drawings and cut text, each piece contains a story -  the essence of one person’s experience of loneliness. I think of each drawing as a microcosmic world of an individual, made from ink and water gathered from different rivers, puddles, streams around Ireland. In reality that water is no longer part of the piece - it has evaporated back into the air, become part of the macrocosm again. When making the pieces, I observed the nature of water to stick together, and tried to draw out and isolate specific areas of ink using my brush, and then finally cutting into the paper.
