Intersection is presented in partnership with Intersections Gallery in Singapore, a supporter of the arts in Singapore, Myanmar and beyond.
Intersection is an exhibition about an encounter between poetry and visual art through the work of poet Marc Nair and visual artist Nicola Anthony. The work maps an architecture of memory at the junction of three diverse cities: Yangon, London, and Singapore.
During the month of October 2017, the Singapore Art Museum will be presenting artworks inspired by the theme of community, and created by different communities. Educational workshops are designed and conducted by artist Nicola Anthony, who is exhibiting in Gallery 1.11 and the artist-mentor to the female inmates participating in the Yellow Ribbon Community Art Exhibition 2017.
Always wanted a terrarium that looks spectacular and doesn’t need any watering? Join artist Nicola Anthony in this workshop to create a 3D mini garden or micro-jungle within a glass jar, using various ink and sculpting techniques.
All materials will be provided. Each participant will take home their own terrarium.
Find out how artist Nicola Anthony uses ink in her artwork, the Human Archive Project, and apply it to your own creations.
Create patterns, leaves and flowers with artist inks to make your own wishing tree artwork, and imbue it with your own stories, wishes and dreams.
The Changi Women's Prison Artist Mentor Programme is an annual collaboration between the local charity Yellow Ribbon Project and Singapore Art Museum, with the aim to facilitate the rehabilitation of inmates through creative art making under the guidance of selected artist mentors– this year's being Nicola Anthony, Barry Yeow, and Kim Whye Kee.
Artist Nicola Anthony invites you to take part in an artwork time capsule, wherein participants write a letter to themselves. The letter will become part of a sculptural artwork at the Debut Contemporary Gallery, and in three years time your letter will be mailed back to you. Participants will thus receive a message from their past self and become a part of the artwork.
Nicola Anthony is fascinated with the things often thought but less often articulated. She collects the words and secrets of others which become the source and inspiration of her work, and creates tactile artworks about language, memory, mapping, and collecting.
