Life on an Island

  • National Museum of Marine Science & Technology No. 367號, Beining Road 202 Taiwan (map)

Field Trip Project Asia is a participatory collective creation project that was initiated by Japanese artist Daisuke Takeya. Daisuke brought with him 35 school backpacks that were to be disposed of, which were originally the relief supplies for the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011. These backpacks have set off on their own field trip and Nicola Anthony was invited to create an artwork inside one of them, which she titled 'Great Soul'.

At the end of 2019, Bamboo Curtain Studio, grounded in the field of cross-cultural exchanges and sustainable development, received an invitation from Field Trip Project Asia, and has designated Keelung City as the destination in Taiwan. This year, the final exhibition of the project entitled "Life on an Island: The N Kinds of Sustainable Living of Islanders" exhibits the collective creations for the project in Taiwan. Together with the present artworks from respected international overseas artists, we put on display the backpack artworks created by four groups of Taiwanese artists and Keelung local students.
