I am happy to be taking part in #ArtistSupportPledge, an exciting scheme where artists offer art for €200 or under during this pandemic, with the aim that for every €1000 made the artist will buy another artist’s work. It’s a wonderful cyclical scheme empowering collectors and artists, enabling creatives and art to survive during this time when we have a cultural vacuum and no galleries open to sell art. I hope you support me so that I can support others.
I get so much joy from being surrounded by art, which brings the world to me even though I cannot visit it. In this video I share with you the artworks I have in my house - some of mine which I am putting up for #ArtistSupportPledge at 200 each, as well as a little tour of some which are not for sale - works in my collection by other artists - so that I can also share with you the joy that art gives me, my own taste in collecting art, and my cheat method of hanging art on my walls (hint - it’s a naughty ‘cluster’ style of hanging that my curator friends will probably tell me off for, but it overcomes my fatal lack of ability to line things up straight!!)
This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a piece of my work for a very accessible price, to support me and other artists to sustain as self-employed creatives during this time, and to get access to some of my favourite pieces - works which are special and valuable enough for me to have in my own house.
At this time of isolation, as a full-time professional artist who has had projects, an artist residency, and income steams postponed indefinitely, I really appreciate your support and I am excited about being part of this scheme.
Thank you to artist Matthew Burrows for starting this wave of kindness through the #artistSupportPledge, and for the spirit of generosity which you are promoting @Matthewburrowsstudio.
Shout out to Sandra Mack-Valencia and Silvia Krupinska - Organic Sculpture, two other artists featured in my collection
