Field Trip Project Asiais an interactive socially engaging travelling art exhibition responding to recent natural disasters. Social media and the fast world of digital communication are making the world a smaller place where what happens thousands of miles away affect us all in different ways. Field Trip Project Asia aims to create awareness and provoke dialogues about various aspects of natural disasters and to connect people creating communities through compassion and art. The participating artists transformed Japanese elementary school backpacks into works of art. The backpacks, originally donated as relief supplies of the Great East Japan Earth Quake in 2011 became surplus and never used as intended, thus the will of support was disconnected. We are recycling them to continue connecting the original thoughts.
